Eastern Southland YES Employers Share their Advice for Youth!

By Emma Turner | Posted: Monday February 22, 2021

We have 25 Employers from a wide range of industries in Eastern Southland. Take a read of some of the advice that they have for youth getting started in their career.

Jo from Hokonui Runanga says

"Youth are our future and we need to make sure that we have them growing into fabulous young adults. If you are wanting to get into a specific industry, go out there and knock on their doors."

Jason from Roofcraft Industries says

"To be a roofer, you have to be physically fit. Just because we are not advertising jobs, doesn't mean that we aren't looking. We always want to talk to people who want to work in our industry. Don't be afraid to work hard because you will reap the rewards from it."

Anna from Finesse Hair + Beauty says

"Go in and approach a salon and ask to have a trial day because that will help you determine if that's something that you want to do."

Paul from Avon Engineering & Mechanical says

"You have to just get out there and knock on the door. There are a lot of things to learn from a lot of different people.
