By Emma Turner | Posted: Tuesday October 16, 2018

If you’ve ever been interested in the retail game, now’s your chance. There are so many reasons to check out opportunities in casual employment AND still have an awesome Summer!

As Christmas is fast approaching, retail employers are now starting to look for young, enthusiastic staff members to assist in tackling the extra workload as stores start to get busier, and large deliveries of stock become more frequent.

Work Experience is Invaluable

To be able to write that you have worked in retail over the busy season on your CV is impressive to any employer. The customer service skills you will pick up interacting with a wide variety of different customers and members of staff during this time will give you an advantage when seeking further employment in all sorts of industries.

Gaining New Skills

Starting work at the busiest time of the year means Christmas casual staff need to learn a lot of skills, fast. This is a great opportunity to build up your skill set for your CV!

Further Employment

Once you show the employer that you are capable, dedicated and reliable, your employer is likely to consider you for future employment in the busy season - or may even consider extending your contract for throughout the year work.

Make new friends and connections in the retail world!

Working over the festive season is a great ways to meet new people. You can make lifelong friends and great work connections by just working over the summer break. Building these connections can be of great benefit when applying for future employment opportunities.

Summer spending money!

This one is self-explanatory, but if you put in the hard work - you will be rewarded for it! As much as lounging around all summer would be awesome, you wouldn’t get the experience nor would you earn the money! What is better than meeting new people, gaining experience and earning money at the same time?! Summer shopping spree coming your way!!

So what are you waiting for? Start looking for Christmas casual positions and express your interest now! Make the most of all opportunities because you never know where they might take you!
