About YES

Nau mai haere mai! Welcome to Youth Employment Success. We are working towards a community that actively engages and supports all rangatahi. A community that owns their rangatahi unemployment issues and works collaboratively to support this kaupapa.

Youth Employment Success is an online platform that launched in 2016 with certified kaiwhakawhiwhi mahi (employers) from a variety of industries offering free employment-based opportunities to 16-24-year-olds and now connecting employers with like-minded rangatahi who are looking for mahi. Whether you’re looking for real experience, an informal kōrero over coffee, or a job in the industry you're into, Youth Employment Success can help you get that break.

Youth Employment Success is a community-based initiative that offers rangatahi opportunities to upskill and gain confidence in their desired industry. Since 2016, Youth Employment Success has seen hundreds of businesses throughout the country offering their time to deliver thousands of opportunity requests and 40,000+ unique visitors to our site across Aotearoa.

Get involved as a YES employer

Why do it? Be recognised for the good work you are already doing. Youth Employment Success is a great way to give back by helping youth and it builds the social good story for you business. Connect with other organisations to ease the process of employment and stay in touch through networking and events with other Youth Friendly businesses and organisations.

We are always on the lookout for new businesses, employees and communities committed to supporting New Zealand’s young people. If you would like to get involved register your interest below and the Youth Employment Success team will be in touch.

You will need to get in contact with us. We will set up a time for your interview and after you have been uploaded to the website you will be able to offer opportunities to youth in your region.

No - you do not have to be a YES employer to list a job.

You need to be 16-24 years old.

Look through the list of employers, find one that is in the industry you are interested in and click apply for opportunities. Select from the options that might work for you.

Yes, you will just need a profile set up and the ability to communicate with the employers outside of the platform.

If there is not an employer that you would like to speak to, we can still help! Contact us and let us know what industry you are interested in and we can hunt down and recruit a youth friendly employer for you.

If it has been longer than 5 working days and you still haven't heard from the employer, get it touch with us and we can follow up to make sure they got your message.

If you do not have any work experience and you are trying out for your first job do not get disheartened. You can focus on your soft skills (the things you can do) rather than your experience. Employers are looking for a positive attitude, a willingness to work and an ability to learn and communicate, skills you have, how you have used them even if it’s on a job. Everyone starts here.

YES is a FREE platform. Whether offering opportunities or listing a job our platform is absolutely 100% free.

The level of commitment is up to you and is dependent on the level of interest you get. There is no set time frame on how long per month that you will spend with youth. It is ultimately up to the youth and how many opportunity requests you receive. Our current employers find it very manageable and worthwhile.

An open session is a chance for a group of youth to get a look at what your business is like behind closed doors with a bit of a chit chat about what you do, and how your business operates and then a walkthrough of the premises. And yes, any of our YES employers can host an open session.

You will receive emails with the applications attached. If you want to get in contact with the person the application will host the contact details and you can get in touch with them directly.

Click on the 'I forgot my password' button when trying to login OR instead get in contact with our team and we can sort it out.
