As a business, Nick the Managing Director has had to give young people a break to get them started. His advice to businesses looking to employ youth is:
“Give people a chance, don’t judge them until you see what skills they actually bring to the table.”
For youth, it is all about having the courage to get out there and knock on doors. Coming up with new and innovative ways that the company can do things.
“If you have a keen drive and want to learn about the industry you’ve just got to knock on a few doors and see what opportunities are out there.”
Both Nick and Jordan talk about how experience is a key in this industry. With Jordan saying that you should get experience wherever you can and Nick saying that ‘if you can, a polytechnic course will help you out a lot.’ If you are new to the industry and want to give engineering a try, don’t hesitate to give them a call.
