Where to Find New Youth Employees

Looking to employ someone new? We've put together a quick list of the places they're looking for jobs and ways you can make contact.

Student Job Search - This free online recruitment website is a great place to list one-off, short-term, part-time or full-time jobs.

TradeMe Jobs - Another online directory, TradeMe Jobs is a great place to post job listings targeted at young people.

Facebook - Youth spend a massive amount of their time on Facebook, so it's the perfect place to reach out for role applications. This can be as simple as a boosted page post asking people to submit a CV and Cover Letter.

Local Schools - Local schools have direct contact with youth actively seeking employment. Reach out to careers advisors who may know of the perfect candidate for your role.

Gateway Programme - A funded programme run through schools, Gateway matches young people with local employers for weekly work experience in a structured, externally assessed format.

Sexy Summer Jobs - An annual program matching local businesses with skilled interns, this is a great way to hire young people over the summer season. Businesses who take on interns  also receive a funding grant.

Local Training Providers - A great way to find young people who are actively seeking jobs is through local training organisations. By approaching these providers you can find youth who have actively developed the right skill sets for your role and are interested in the industry.

Store/Business Window Signs - Often used in retail, young people notice these types of adverts, so utilise this space to attract young people to submit applications. 

Word of Mouth - Dunedin is a small city! Create a collaborative culture and reach out to your own business communities when looking to hire someone new.
